Integrative Cancer Care

Breast Cancer Treatment

Breast cancer treatment should address more than the tumor. Our integrative program combines targeted biological therapies with immune support, detoxification, and whole-patient care to improve outcomes and quality of life.
The Condition

A Comprehensive Approach to Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide. While conventional treatments — surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy — have improved survival rates significantly, many patients experience debilitating side effects, treatment resistance, and anxiety about recurrence.

At St. George Hospital, our integrative breast cancer program supports patients at every stage: during active conventional treatment to reduce side effects and enhance efficacy, after treatment to reduce recurrence risk, and for advanced or recurrent disease when additional therapeutic options are needed.

Our approach recognizes that breast cancer is influenced by hormonal balance, immune function, metabolic health, gut microbiome composition, stress, and environmental factors. Addressing these dimensions alongside the tumor itself creates a more complete treatment strategy. Each patient’s protocol is developed under the supervision of Dr. Martin Rößner, Chief Physician for Internal Medicine and Oncology, in collaboration with our multidisciplinary medical team.

Integrative Therapies for Breast Cancer

Local-Regional Hyperthermia

Focused heat therapy directed at the breast and chest wall region enhances the effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiation. Clinical trials have demonstrated significantly improved response rates in breast cancer chest wall recurrences treated with hyperthermia combined with radiation.

Whole-Body Hyperthermia

Systemic heat therapy activates anti-tumor immune responses, enhances drug delivery, and mimics the body's natural fever defense. Particularly valuable for metastatic breast cancer and as an immune system stimulant before and after conventional treatment.

IPT Low-Dose Chemotherapy

For patients requiring chemotherapy, our insulin-potentiated protocol delivers targeted drug therapy at reduced doses. This is especially relevant for women who have experienced severe side effects from standard chemotherapy or who have hormone-resistant disease.

Immune Therapy

Mistletoe (Viscum album) therapy -- the most studied complementary cancer treatment in Europe -- along with dendritic cell therapy and thymus peptides, strengthens immune surveillance against breast cancer cells and reduces treatment-related immune suppression.

Hormone & Estrogen Metabolism

Beyond standard hormone therapy, we evaluate estrogen metabolism pathways (2-OH, 4-OH, 16-OH ratios), progesterone balance, and environmental estrogen exposure. Targeted interventions optimize hormone metabolism to reduce cancer-promoting estrogen pathways.

Detoxification & Nutrition

High-dose vitamin C infusions, liver support, anti-inflammatory nutrition, and targeted supplementation (vitamin D, omega-3, curcumin, selenium) support the body's recovery and help create an internal environment less favorable for cancer growth.
