Integrative Cancer Care

Prostate Cancer Treatment

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. Our integrative approach combines prostate-specific hyperthermia, targeted biological therapies, and immune support to treat the disease while preserving quality of life.
The Condition

Understanding Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer ranges from slow-growing, low-risk tumors that may never cause symptoms, to aggressive cancers that can spread throughout the body. Treatment decisions depend heavily on the stage, Gleason score, PSA dynamics, and the patient’s overall health and preferences.

Many men face a difficult choice between radical treatments (surgery, radiation) with significant side effects — including incontinence and erectile dysfunction — and active surveillance with the anxiety of living with an untreated cancer.

At St. George Hospital, we offer a third path: integrative oncology protocols that can be used as primary treatment for localized disease, as complementary therapy alongside conventional treatment, or as a strategy for recurrent or advanced prostate cancer. Our prostate cancer program is led by Dr. Martin Rößner, Chief Physician for Internal Medicine and Oncology, who brings extensive experience in individualized, integrative cancer care.

Our Approach

Integrative Treatment for Prostate Cancer

Prostate Hyperthermia

Our specialized transrectal hyperthermia system delivers controlled heat directly to the prostate, damaging cancer cells while sparing surrounding tissue. This targeted approach can be used as a primary treatment for localized disease or as an adjunct to other therapies. Sessions are 60-90 minutes with continuous temperature monitoring.

IPT Low-Dose Chemotherapy

For patients requiring chemotherapy, our insulin-potentiated approach delivers drugs at significantly reduced doses with fewer side effects. This is particularly relevant for advanced prostate cancer or cases that have progressed through hormone therapy.

Immune Therapy

Dendritic cell therapy, thymus peptides, and natural killer cell stimulation activate the immune system's ability to recognize and attack prostate cancer cells. Immune therapy is particularly valuable for preventing recurrence and managing micrometastatic disease.

Hormone Optimization

Rather than simply suppressing all testosterone (which causes significant side effects), our approach includes careful hormonal assessment, estrogen metabolism evaluation, and nuanced hormonal strategies that address the cancer while minimizing quality-of-life impact.

Photodynamic Therapy

Light-sensitive compounds that preferentially accumulate in prostate tissue can be activated to selectively destroy cancer cells. PDT offers a minimally invasive option for localized prostate cancer with minimal impact on surrounding structures.

Nutritional & Lifestyle Support

Anti-inflammatory nutrition, targeted supplementation (vitamin D, selenium, modified citrus pectin), exercise guidance, and stress management form an essential part of our comprehensive prostate cancer protocol.

RELATED THERAPIES

Treatments Used in Prostate Cancer Care

Prostate Hyperthermia

Targeted transrectal heat therapy specifically designed for prostate tumors, enhancing treatment response while preserving organ function.

Whole-Body Hyperthermia

Systemic heat therapy activates immune defenses and enhances drug delivery for advanced or metastatic prostate cancer.

IPT Chemotherapy

Low-dose insulin-potentiated chemotherapy offers a gentler treatment option with fewer side effects for prostate cancer patients.

Immune Therapy

Mistletoe therapy and immune modulation strengthen the body's natural surveillance against prostate cancer progression.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Focal photodynamic therapy offers a tissue-sparing approach for localized prostate cancer treatment.
